The Excellence in School Leadership Awards is a pilot program designed and implemented by the Newark Trust for Education as part of its commitment to cultivating and retaining high quality school leadership. In partnership with Foundation for Newark’s Future, the Excellence in School Leadership Awards honors eligible principals and vice principals committed to working toward, and increasing student achievement. This program has two elements focused on recruiting, retaining and incentivize high-quality leadership in Newark Public schools. These include:

• Leadership Matters Award;
• Leadership Achievement Award.

Leadership Matters Award: The Leadership Matters Awards are one-time awards of $10,000 for principals and $5000 for vice-principals who serve in high-need schools.

Leadership Achievement Awards: The Leadership Achievement Awards are designed to recognize the outstanding leadership of principals and Assistant principals who are moving the needle on student achievement in Newark Public Schools.
